Ten top tips for a personal “spring clean” to ensure you feel refreshed and renewed for the months ahead

Spring is finally here: the daffodils are opening, the birds are singing and the mornings and evenings are getting light again. This is traditionally the time of year for spring cleaning and renewal so what can we do to have a metaphorical “spring clean” and boost our energy?

  1. Review the first quarter of 2011 – what went well for you personally? Any disappointments? What did you learn?
  2. Think about your personal 2011 goals and review your progress – write a plan for what you need to do in the next quarter and update it monthly
  3. Make a list of the people in your life who drain your energy – consider how you can avoid these “energy sappers” or minimise their impact on you
  4. Identify those people who give you energy and boost your feeling of wellbeing – how can you spend more time with them and maximise their positive affect?
  5. Focus on the positives in your life – at the end of each day think about what you have to be grateful for and count your blessings
  6. Carry out a personal wellbeing audit – are you getting enough exercise? Are you getting enough sleep? How healthy is your diet? Do you get enough R&R?
  7.  Identify simple changes you can make to improve your lifestyle and feel more energised
  8. Clear out any negative and unhelpful thoughts – instead attract positive experiences into your life by choosing to be happy
  9. Reflect on your deeply held values – are you being true to yourself and living your life according to these values?
  10. Commit to making at least 3 people smile each day – beginning with yourself!
